Free ATP Bioluminescence Surface Testing
An objective check of how clean your high-touch surfaces really are — measured with ATP bioluminescence, reported surface by surface, at no cost.
What an ATP test measures
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a molecule found in all living cells, so it is present in organic residue such as body fluids, skin cells, food soil and microorganisms. An ATP test swabs a surface, the swab reacts with an enzyme that produces light, and a handheld luminometer reads that light in seconds as relative light units (RLU). More residue produces a higher reading.
What it does and does not tell you
- It does show, objectively and immediately, whether a surface was actually cleaned — which is why infection prevention programs use it to audit cleaning.
- It does not identify specific organisms or prove a surface is free of pathogens. A low reading is evidence of good cleaning, not a sterility result.
- Pass/fail limits are set by the device manufacturer and your own baseline, so readings are compared on the same system over time.
How the free assessment works
- Pick the surfaces. We agree a short list of high-touch points — exam tables, bed rails, door handles, light switches, keyboards, restroom fixtures.
- Swab as-is. We test those surfaces under your current cleaning, without warning your staff or vendor, so the result reflects normal conditions.
- Written results. You receive every reading with its location and the device's pass/fail limit, plus the surfaces that need attention.
- No obligation. The report is yours to use with your current vendor or your infection control committee.
